Tuskegee man arrested on multiple charges

April 08 2024

Auburn, Ala. - On April 6, 2024, the Auburn Police Department (APD) arrested Tyquan Shermond Daniel, age 22, from Tuskegee, AL, on warrants charging him with assault first degree, attempting to elude (felony), sodomy second degree and failure to appear.

The arrest stems from Auburn Police conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle near the 600 block of Byrd Street. Tyquan Shermond Daniel was contacted as the driver of the vehicle. During the traffic stop, Daniel drove away at a high rate of speed, initiating a vehicle pursuit.

While Daniel continued to flee, a 15-year-old juvenile passenger exited the vehicle. Daniel continued to drive in a reckless manner, causing serious injuries to the juvenile passenger. Additional officers responded to the location of the juvenile to render medical aid and investigate the scene and criminal acts that caused the injuries.

During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle was disabled by spike strips deployed by APD officers. Daniel was eventually detained near the 100 block of Chadwick Lane where the vehicle was no longer operable.

Daniel was transported to the Lee County Jail and held on a $65,500 bond.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
